07 How we play
INDIE SOCIETY is a social for indie games: the people who make them and the people who play them.
1 Getting in
- You sign in with Google and join as a player. Your email address is seen only by you and the admin.
- Every member sees the devs, their games, the posts shown to everyone and the forum.
2 Doors
- Each dev has a door, and behind it the work in progress. Knocking asks to test it: the dev sees your handle and your Instagram, then opens the door or keeps it shut.
- While you knock, keep indiesociety.app/u/your-handle in your Instagram bio, so nobody can knock with a nick that is not theirs.
- Five doors at a time. A door kept shut takes a new knock after 30 days. A dev can close a door again at any time.
3 Like any social
- Post, like, comment, share, follow. A dev chooses for each post who sees it: every member, or the people behind their door.
- Put games on your wishlist with one tap; the dev sees who did.
4 Special testers
- A dev picks special testers among the people they let in who follow them or wishlist their games. Special testers see the dev's stories (24 hours) and rooms.
- Your handle is drawn over what you watch. Sharing a dev's work outside INDIE SOCIETY is a ban.
5 Forum
- Talk as at a good meetup: no insults or hate, no spam, no selling or begging for keys, nothing private about anyone, nothing for adults only.
- Flag a post that breaks the rules. Three flags fold it until the admin looks.
6 Copies
- If someone copies a game, report it with proofs. A member named in a report can answer before anything is published.
